Managing the Hall
Managing the hall is a smooth operation and the team has many years of experience but we welcome innovation and enthusiasm.
Sedlescombe Village Hall CIO. is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation with trustees. The whole committee of trustees currently meet 4 times a year in mid March, June, September and December for reports from the officers and to ratify any decisions that require attention. Meetings are expected to take an hour maximum.
The AGM is held immediately after the March Quarterly meeting and usually takes about 30 mins.
In addition management meetings are held as required and unless there is something that requires extra attention, like the project to Update and Improve the hall. Most matters can be dealt with by email communication and up to 4 short meetings a year, in between the Quarterly Meetings.
For several years we had organised work-party days 3-4 times a year which we would like to continue. This is to do some extra grounds maintenance or freshen up some paintwork, over and above the general maintenance done by the Hall Manager and other contractors. Any offers of help with this would be appreciated as it all helps to keep down our running costs which are wholy funded by hire fees. We have no subsidies and are completely self-supporting.
In November 2018 Sedlescombe Screen, a monthly community cinema was started, as an ongoing fundraiser and an additional activity for the local community. Now in its sixth year it continues to be a great success.
